It is not often that the third disk in the catalog is the one that is self-titled. It's usually the first one. The Rodrigo y Gabriela duo is one of the acts that I like from more recent years. I was introduced to them by way of Rolling Stone magazine; I was fascinated by their troubadour story, from how they went from playing in the streets and bars of Dublin, to hitting the number one spot on the Irish charts, with instrumentals!!! I bought their self-titled third album, and I was blown away. They play fast paced acoustic heavy metal that sounds very….superior music… not like heavy metal at all, more like nothing you ever heard before… and they rock, heavily. Now I have their whole catalog, and I have seen them four times, and will again. This album is my favorite from them, it carries 11 instrumental tracks. It is hard to believe that this music is coming only from a pair of guitars.
